Butyl rubber is a synthetic rubber obtained by copolymerizing isobutylene and a small amount of isoprene. One of the isoprene rubber), the English name is Butyl Rubber, referred to as IIR (abbreviation of Isobutylene Isoprene Rubber). White to light gray, odorless and tasteless; insoluble in ethanol and ether. Viscosity average molecular weight=(35-45)×l04, relative density (17℃/4℃) 0.92, (27℃/4℃) 0.91, refractive index 1.5078~1.508l, glass transition temperature -69℃, specific heat capacity 1.94kJ/ (kg K), thermal conductivity 0.091W/(m.K). The isoprene segment only accounts for 0.6% to 3.0% of the main chain, so the butyl rubber has a high degree of saturation in the chain.
